The short version: Crew Wise stores what a rowing club needs to run itself — accounts, boats, outings, messages — and nothing else. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and your data is never sold or shared for marketing. You can delete your account, and everything personal in it, from inside the app.
What we collect
When you sign up: your name, email address and a password (the password is held by our sign-in provider in hashed form — we never see it). Your profile can also hold optional details you choose to add: phone number, weight, gender, birth year, skill level, squad, an emergency contact and a photo.
As your club uses the app, we store the records the club makes: boat sign-outs and returns, bookings, maintenance reports, practice RSVPs, club messages, and membership roles. These are the club’s operational records — the same things it once kept in a paper logbook.
Location
The app asks for your location only while the optional in-boat stroke coach or live map is running, to show speed, split, distance and where the crew is. Positions are shared only with your own club, and are deleted the moment the boat is signed back in (or within about twenty minutes if the phone simply stops reporting). Weather and tide are fetched for the club’s fixed rowing venue, not your location.
Young rowers
Crew Wise is a club-management tool used under the supervision of a rowing club. Clubs may register members under 18; a private message between an adult and an under-18 member always includes the young member’s linked parent or guardian, and the app refuses the conversation entirely if no guardian is linked. Parents and guardians get their own free accounts.
Where it lives
Club data is stored in a managed database (hosted on Supabase) with per-club access rules enforced by the database itself: members of one club can never read another club’s data. Traffic between the app and the database is encrypted in transit.
Payments
Club subscriptions are paid by the club, outside the app, by bank transfer arranged with Crew Wise directly. We record that a payment was received (amount, date, bank reference). The app itself sells nothing and never handles card numbers.
What we never do
- No advertising, and no data is ever sold or shared for marketing.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.
- No use of your data for anything except running Crew Wise for your club.
Deleting your account
In the app: More → Account → “Delete my account…”. This permanently removes your account, profile, memberships, bookings and RSVPs. The club keeps its own operational records — its logbook and maintenance history — with your account unlinked from them, the way a paper logbook keeps its entries after a member leaves. Club administrators can also export their club’s data at any time.
