The app area
Everything Crew Wise does, by the people who do it.
The same club, the same records, on a phone in the boat bay, an iPad on the shed wall and a laptop at the committee table. Here is the full tour — first by role, then by workflow.

In any browser
Mac, PC, Chromebook, Android phone or tablet, iPhone or iPad. The browser version is the full app: sign-outs, returns, the logbook, messages, the schedule and the whole admin area. Bookmark /app/ and go.
On an Android home screen
Open Crew Wise in Chrome on Android, then use Chrome’s menu → Add to Home screen. It opens full screen from the home screen like an installed app.
On an iPhone or iPad
In Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen for the same thing today. The native Crew Wise app for iPhone and iPad is in TestFlight testing now, with the App Store release next — it adds the GPS StrokeCoach, QR scanning and push notifications.
For rowers and coxswains
Turn up, find a boat that fits, go rowing. Everything the club needs recording happens as you do it.
Boats that fit you, first
Your weight, height, grade and side live on your profile — other members never see them. Fits you lists the free boats rigged for someone your size at your grade; everything else free is listed underneath with the one reason it doesn’t fit, such as Women’s crews or 62–75 kg range.
Sign out in a few taps
Name the crew seat by seat from Stroke to Bow, add the coxswain on a coxed boat, pick 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, and confirm. The weather and tide at launch are recorded with the outing for you.
Book a boat ahead
Reserve a boat for tomorrow morning so two crews never arrive for one shell. When the time comes, Home says Your booking is ready — tap to sign out. Your club decides which roles may book.
Say whether you’re coming
Reply Going, Maybe or Can’t make it to a session from Home or the schedule, with an optional note. Change it any time — the coach sees the tally, not a chain of messages.
StrokeCoach in the boat
Prop the phone where you can see it for live split, rate, distance, stroke count, metres per stroke and lap splits, with your route on a map. Tap Save to this outing and it becomes part of the boat’s logbook entry. Club plan
Your rowing
Outings, kilometres, hours and boats, your favourite boat and longest row, and where you sit on the club boards — kilometre leaders, attendance, early birds on the water before 7am.
For coaches
Know who is coming, who is on the water and what they did — without asking anybody.
Attendance before the alarm
Every activity shows Going, Maybe, Can’t make it and No response, with names under each. Remind the {n} who haven’t replied posts a chase-up to Club Chat — you never write it twice.
Who is out, right now
Every crew on the water with the boat, who is stroking, the coach on the bank and the due-back time. Overdue crews are flagged for everyone. Anyone running the StrokeCoach with sharing on appears on the club map with their split and distance.
Crews recorded properly
Because every sign-out names its seats, the logbook can answer who rowed with whom, in which boat, how far and in what weather — by rower, by boat or by date.
The chats that matter
The Coaches channel, a men’s and a women’s chat for every grade, squad channels on the Championship plan, and group chats for a crew or a regatta trailer run.
Set the week up
Add training, regattas, camps, socials and meetings, choose who each is for — the whole club, particular grades, a squad or named people — and only they see it.
Export what you need
Coaches and administrators get a CSV chip on the logbook that exports exactly what is on screen, filtered however you left it. Club plan
For club administrators
The whole club’s admin in one area — fleet, people, safety, content, records and the plan.
Fleet manager
Add a boat with its type (1x, 2x, 2-, 4x, 4x+, 4+, 4-, 8+), maker, year, the grade it suits and the crew weight range it is rigged for. Make a boat private so only named people — a member’s own single, or the racing eight before a regatta — can take it out.
Members and roles
Everyone who joins with the code starts as a Rower. Promote Coaches and Club Administrators, set Parent / Guardian and link them to their rower. Remove someone and their access to every channel ends immediately, while the club keeps its records.
Maintenance queue
Every open fault from an Out of order or Needs some attention return, with when it was reported and how serious. Mark repair complete puts the boat back on the available list on every device at once.
Club settings
The join code, under-18 messaging protection, an admin PIN for shared devices, who gets emailed when a boat breaks, the shed’s coordinates and tide station, who may book boats, and the wind, gust and temperature thresholds behind the rowing-status light.
Import and export
Bring boats, members or electronics in from a spreadsheet in one paste — importing only ever adds, so running the same file twice is safe. Export a full club backup whenever you like. Club plan

Rename and recolour grades to match your club’s language, add squads with their own channels and coaches, and put your club’s colour through the whole app. Club Championship
For parents and guardians
A free account that shows you your rower’s club — and keeps them safe in it.
What you can see
The club calendar and what your rower is invited to, their RSVPs, Club Rules written for parents, Key Contacts to ring, and any message you are copied into. Parents and guardians never sign a boat out.
Never a one-to-one
A private message between an adult and a member under 18 always includes the young member’s linked parent or guardian — or a club administrator if no parent is linked yet — and a banner says so. Nobody is blocked; there are simply never fewer than two adults in the conversation.
Getting linked
A club administrator sets your role to Parent / Guardian and links you to your rower under Members & roles. Until someone is linked, coaches cannot message that young rower privately at all.
Reporting
Any message can be reported to the club’s administrators from the thread — bullying or harassment, inappropriate for young members, spam or something else. Reports go to administrators only.
For club volunteers
The boatman, the safety officer, the person who opens the shed at 5:30am and the committee that answers for it all.
The Shedboard
A shared iPad or Mac in the boat bay running one screen: big tiles reading FREE, ON WATER, OVERDUE or MAINTENANCE. Tap a boat, tap your name, go. Bring it in with Good, Needs some attention or Out of order. Profiles, club switching and the admin area sit behind the club PIN. Club plan
Damage that reaches the right person
An out-of-order return emails the club and any addresses you add — the boatman, the captain — the moment it happens, and the boat leaves the available list everywhere until the repair is marked done.
Records for the committee
Outings, kilometres, hours and boats over any period, filtered to one boat or one member, exported as CSV for the AGM, an insurance claim or a funding application.
Rules and Key Contacts
Club Rules written by audience — rowers, parents and guardians, coaches, club members — and the people who run the club with a tap to call or email.

Each of these is a few taps in the app, and each one leaves the record behind that the club would otherwise chase.
Sign-out and return
The heart of it, and free on every plan.
Pick a boat
From Take a boat out on Home, from the Fleet list, from the boat’s own page, from a booking that has come due — or by scanning the boat’s QR sticker on the rack.
Name the crew
Seat by seat, Stroke to Bow, the coxswain on a coxed boat and the coach on the bank. Expected duration sets the due-back time; notes pass anything on to the next crew.
Row
The boat reads On water on every device in the club. Home turns into a countdown, and the crew can run the StrokeCoach and share their position with the club.
Return
How did the boat come back — Good, Needs some attention or Out of order? Add the distance and any notes. The outing lands in the logbook and the boat is available again.
Fleet management
Every boat with its status right now and its whole story behind it: photo, class and maker, the grade and crew weight it is rigged for, who may row it, lifetime outings, kilometres and hours, the fastest anyone has been in it, where it last went, open faults, bookings, the rigging preset, and the last fourteen outings and repairs. Search by name, type or maker; filter to Available now, Sculling or Sweep. A club with eighty boats works exactly like a club with eight.
Bookings
Reserve a boat for a day, a start time and a length, with a note such as the crew name. If someone already has it, the app says who and until when. Yours show with Sign out once the time comes and Cancel until then; everyone else’s show under Club bookings, and booked boats are marked on Home and on the fleet list. Administrators choose which roles may book.
Training schedules and RSVPs
Training, regattas, camps, socials and committee meetings, each with a date, time, location that opens in Maps, a description and an audience — the whole club, particular grades, a squad or named people. Members reply Going, Maybe or Can’t make it from Home in one tap. Coaches see Attending, Declined, Maybe and No response, assign boats for the day, and nudge the people who haven’t answered. Club Chat and safeguarding
Club Chat for everyone, Coaches and Admins channels, a men’s and a women’s chat for every grade that you join automatically from your profile, squad channels, group chats anyone can start, and private messages. Messages never leave your club. Under-18 protection means an adult and a young member are never alone in a conversation: the rower’s linked parent or guardian is in it, or a club administrator if none is linked, and everyone can see they are there. Any message can be reported to administrators from the thread, and anyone can be blocked from messaging you privately.
Maintenance reporting
Damage is reported by the crew that found it, at the moment they found it. Needs some attention keeps the boat available and logs the job for the boatman; Out of order removes the boat from every device’s available list and emails the club’s administrators straight away. Both stay on the boat’s history, so a hull with a habit of coming back damaged is visible rather than remembered. Administrators clear a repair from the boat’s page or the maintenance queue.
Club records and administration
The logbook fills itself in: every sign-out, return and repair, searchable by boat, name, route or anything written in a note, narrowed by time, by kind — Outings, Damage, Repairs — or to Just mine. Four running totals sit on top: outings, kilometres, hours, boats. Beyond it sit monthly goals, club boards, Club Rules, Key Contacts, the equipment shelf and a full club backup you can take with you. The Starter plan keeps 90 days of logbook; Club and Championship keep everything.
Shedboard
The shed’s own screen. Any club administrator can turn a shared iPad or Mac into it from More, and it shows two big tabs — Boats and Electronics — and nothing else. Anyone in the club can sign a boat out by tapping it and tapping their name, or bring it in and answer the condition question. Everything else on that device sits behind the club PIN. StrokeCoach and the club map
The phone becomes an in-boat instrument: live /500m split, rate, distance, stroke count, metres per stroke and lap splits, night or day screen, the route drawn as you go. Share your position and the club sees you on the Who’s Out Right Now map with distance rowed and how far from the shed you are — visible only to your club, only while the boat is out, deleted the moment it is signed back in.
